Why I'm Taking RTF 305

The simple answer to why I'm taking RTF 305 is that I’m an RTF major, and it's a requirement.  That being said, I can’t say why I’m an RTF major to begin with, and I’m not entirely sure I want to stick with it. I want to write films, not produce them, and if I were ever to try directing, I would make a documentary. I feel like because I’m so interested in these specific aspects of film, majoring in it might not be the best decision—especially considering I’ve recently begun entertaining the idea of pursuing other careers (architecture and advertising to name just two.) The reason I’m taking this course now though, and the reason I expect it to be my favorite of the semester, is because I’m going to use it to really see if I want to stick with film. Before this year, not being a screenwriter wasn’t an option. Now that idea is fading, and I’m hoping this course will help shed some light on to whether or not I should continue to follow it. This is a media course though, and I expect to learn not just about film. I think this is important course regardless of major, but considering I’m currently an RTF student and I’m thinking about switching to advertising, I expect to gain even more from it.
